Section 8 - Public Housing Authorities
Public Housing Authorities (PHAs), local government agencies, use funding from HUD to subsidize low-income rental housing under
two programs.
Public Housing refers to apartments which are managed and maintained by the PHA.
Section 8 refers to a voucher program in which
the voucher holder can rent a house or apartment of his/her own choosing. Eligibility and the amount of monthly financial assistance are based
on household income and size. Contact a PHA for more information and to apply.
